The selection of the electric actuator type

1.1  Application Scenario

First, clarify the application scenario of the electric actuator, including the usage environment and operational requirements. For example, industrial automation control system may require electric actuators with high load capacity and precise control performance, while smart home control systems may be more suitable for electric actuators with low power consumption and compact size characteristic.

1.2  Output Shaft Rotation Range

Determine the rotation range of the actuator output shaft according to the working requirements of the valve. For quarter turn actuator, the common rotation range is 0–90°. For linear electric actuators, the output shaft performs linear motion.

1.3  Mounting Interface Mode

Select an appropriate mounting interface according to the valve type and size. Common mounting modes include direct mounting and base-mounted crank type.

1.4  Control type

On off actuator is generally used to achieve valve open or close control, while modulating actuator is used for precise control of valve opening. The appropriate control type should be selected according to actual requirements.

2.1 Limited Switch

It is used to control the end position of actuator, ensuring that limit switch actuator can stop accurately at the preset position. User can select the mechanical or electrical limited switch according to their actual requirements.

2.2 Controller

It is used to control the motor of actuator to start, stop or reverse. User can select the on/off controller or electrical controller according to their actual requirements and make sure that the controller is compatible with the actuator’s interface.

2.3 Gear and Worm

They are the important components of the actuator transmission system and used to reduce the speed and increase the torque. Selecting the high-quality and appropriate gears and worm ensures the transmission efficiency and the stable operation.

Additionally, user also can select other spare parts, such as brake clutches and springs. During the selection, it is need to ensure that these parts can match the model, specifications and dimension of the original spare parts so that they can work properly.
